Paying a Visit to Henry Gyles Turner

Henry Gyles Turner was a foundation member of the RHSV, president of the Melbourne Public Library, big banker, historian and passionate book collector.  Dr Andrew Lemon delivered a lecture this afternoon entitled 'Paying a Visit to Henry Gyles Turner, (1831-1920)'. The lecture was one of a series of events organised for Melbourne Rare Book Week 2013.

The origin of the Royal Victorian Aero Club lies in the foundation of the Australian Aero Club by two instructors and four army officers in 1914 at Point Cook. 

Renamed the Victorian Aero Club in October 1934, six months later (on 13 March 1935) the club was granted approval to use the ‘Royal’ prefix. Since that date it has been known as the Royal Victorian Aero Club. Read more...

From time to time the RHSV hosts visiting groups  in our library.  Today Jason, our Local History Librarian,  hosted a group of about twenty library technicians who came to learn more about our collection.
